About Us
How we came to be:
In 2007, 25 women business owners gathered at a local wine bar in Sarasota, FL with the intent to see what it would be like to experience a new kind of networking. Visionary founder, Elsie Gilmore, knew that women are relationship creatures who when given the opportunity love to be in service to others. She also knew that when it’s just the girls the “networking” environment is a whole other ball game. Business is part of the conversation but it’s not the main point. Getting to know, like and trust each other is what really opens doors and creates powerful alliances.
Our motto is: Good friends. Good fun. Good business.
What started out as a social experiment, quickly grew great demand for regular gatherings. The website with an exciting membership directory was developed and word was getting out. Women from nearby towns were learning of the fun and success of this model of networking and wanted to host new chapters and WWM became a membership organization.
Fast forward to 2010, member, Dill Ward moved cross country and opened the first west coast chapter in Portland, OR. Again the model proved to be successful and she later became the CEO.
In 2014, we became Women With Moxie International Network, inviting women worldwide to participate in our community.
Our beliefs:
We believe that women are stepping into a new paradigm and have tremendous power to change the world at large by expanding their own worlds; while growing businesses, building careers, supporting families, and, living the lives of their dreams.
